Linda Radzik, professor of philosophy at Texas A&M University, will be moving to Binghamton University (SUNY).

Radzik works mainly in ethics and philosophy of law, writing about “moral issues that arise in the aftermath of wrongdoing, including the ethics of forgiveness, reconciliation, criminal punishment, tort law, collective moral responsibility, and the roles third parties play in enforcing and promulgating moral norms.” Her books include Making Amends: Atonement in Morality, Law, and Politics (Oxford, 2009) and The Ethics of Social Punishment: The Enforcement of Morality in Everyday Life (Cambridge, 2020). She takes up her new position at Binghamton this fall.

It may also be of interest to those in the profession that Binghamton Philosophy has made eight appointments that will support its doctoral program in the past four years. In order of appointment: Mateo Duque (ancient, aesthetics, Latin American), Rebecca Harrison (soc & pol, feminist, phil language), Casey Doyle (epistemology, mind, technology), Jordan Pascoe (feminist, Kant, soc & pol), Emilie Pagano (metaphysics, social, feminist), Austen McDougal (ethics, phil religion), Nicolas Garcia Mills (continental, 19th century, Latin American), and, of course, Linda Radzik. 

It was not mentioned whether Radzik’s move is related to the recent authoritarian measures adopted at Texas A&M.

UPDATE: In a comment below, Professor Radzik writes, “Yes, I’m moving because of the censorship policies at Texas A&M. My colleagues and students there have been wonderful. They are doing their best in very difficult times. The Board of Regents has broken trust with them. I’m also very excited about the programs and people at Binghamton.”
