New: Journal of Mathematical Philosophy


The Journal of Mathematical Philosophy is a new open-access journal.

According to an announcement from its editors, the journal is “the first open access journal that is devoted to mathematical philosophy.”

It is now open to submissions in subject areas such as as formal epistemology, philosophical logic, philosophy of science, decision theory, philosophy of mathematics, formal metaphysics, philosophy of language, formal ethics, and philosophy of AI.

Published by LMU Munich, the Journal of Mathematical Philosophy is a “diamond” open-access journal, meaning that there are no author fees nor reader fees. The journal will make use of double-anonymous reviewing.

The journal is led by co-editors-in-chief Jürgen Landes and Lennart Ackermans, both of LMU Munich.

The inaugural associate editors are Francesca Zaffora Blando, Thomas Boyer-Kassem, Justin Bruner, Lorenzo Casini, Gustavo Cevolani, Kenny Easwaran, Ben Eva, Branden Fitelson, Sam Fletcher, Alexander Gebharter, Conrad Heilmann, Bennet Holman, Ekaterina Kubyshkina, Stephan Leuenberger, Conor Mayo-Wilson, Mattia Petrolo, Giuseppe Primero, Saeed Salehi, Jonah Schupbach, Dunja Šešelja, Ted Shear, Eric Snyder, Reuben Stern, Rush Stewart, Christian Strasser, David Teira, Brout Trpin, Olav Vassend, and Sylvia Wenmakers. The inaugural advisory board consists of Michael Glanzberg, Stephan Hartmann, Jan-Willem Romeijn, Jacob Stegenga, and Edward Zalta.

Fantastic news. Diamond Open Access supported by a faculty and/or university library is the best way to run a journal.

Oddly but pleasingly, I’ve found that the easiest journals to interact with as a submitting author have used this model (Ergo, PhiMiSci, Theoria). Long may this trend continue.
