The American Philosophical Association (APA) has announced that the new chair of its Board of Officers will be Marya Schechtman.

Marya Schechtman is a Liberal Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Her three-year term as APA Board Chair begins on July 1st, 2026.

She succeeds R. Lanier Anderson (Stanford) in the position.

Professor Schechtman was president of the Central Division of the APA in 2023–2024 and served on the Central Division Executive Committee from 2010–2013 and 2022–2025. You can learn more about her here and more about the APA’s Board of Officers here.
