New 21st Century Monads Album & Video
The 21st Century Monads have released a new album, The World Soul.
The 21st Century Monads are a band that makes music about philosophy. Its current are philosophers Kris McDaniel (Notre Dame), Carrie Jenkins (British Columbia), Ben Bradley (Syracuse), and Laura Callahan (Notre Dame).
McDaniel wrote most of the parts for The World Soul and played an astonishing number and variety of instruments on it (including an oud, a guzheng, stellar flutes, a glockenspiel, a banjitar, many others—and, oh yeah, guitar, bass, and drums).
The album, the band’s seventh, has 17 tracks, including such (for philosophers) evocative titles as: “There’s a Hole”, “Mary”, “The Impossible”, and “Your Noumena Are Ill”. It is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and elsewhere.
The band released a video for its first single from the album, “The Dreamer’s Dream”. Here it is:

One thing I continue to like about this group — they sing better than the group from the Brown Department.
In launching the group so many years ago last century, Kris obliquely referred to me as “Weird Al”. One of my best compliments ever. 🙂 They are awesome.
