Support Philosophy Outreach

Wisdom’s Edge Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to “bring philosophy to the edges of society.”

Developed and run by Sophia Stone, associate professor of philosophy at Lynn University, Wisdom’s Edge has, over the past several years, provided a variety of philosophical opportunities to people who do not have access to college philosophy courses, offering programs for free or at a reduced cost.

You can help by making a contribution today, here.

Among the programs Wisdom’s Edge offers are:

  • In-person philosophy courses for Burckle Place, a women’s transition home from homelessness and incarceration
  • Wonder! – a children’s online philosophy discussion group, ages 7 to 11 (17 children)
  • Philosophy in Nature programs, in which Dr. Stone teaches philosophy and nature journaling to participants in an outdoor and natural environment.
  • Reading circles — including one on Mathematics & Philosophy focusing on Émilie du Châtelet’s commentary on Newton
  • Online art & philosophy discussions
  • Six-week philosophy programs for children and parents
  • Subsidizing the teaching of philosophy courses to retirees on limited income.

It’s challenging running a small philosophy non-profit. Wisdom’s Edge has received some municipal grants and some funding from schools, but could really benefit from your assistance. Please take a moment to go here and make a donation. Any small donation will make a difference and will be appreciated.

You can learn more about Wisdom’s Edge here.

[Disclosure: I’m on the Board of Wisdom’s Edge.]
