“There was nothing illegal or unethical about the philosopherā€™s encounters with the writer, and she said so in the piece (she was not directly his student, but met him at a conference).”

The IHE author has a funny idea of what “unethical” means. I am pretty darned sure the writer thinks the philosopher behaved unethically in their relationship.
