World Philosophy Day is Next Thursday
World Philosophy Day is the third Thursday of November. That’s next Thursday. How will you be celebrating?
World Philosophy Day, created by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), celebrates “the enduring value of philosophy for the development of human thought, for each culture and for each individual.”
If you or your department are doing anything to mark the occasion, tell us about it.
We’re partnering with the History department and screening Dr. Strangelove (with brief introductions to the film from one professor from each program).

At the University of Louisville, we’re hosting our third annual Philosophy Slam, which brings students from several local high schools for an evening of team philosophizing as they offer interpretations of and answers to prompts we’ve provided them. This year the event will also include a “stump the professors” round.
The University of Guam is hosting its third annual World Philosophy Day Phi-esta! Food, philosophy-themed games, and raffles. Majors will be on-hand to chat with students interested in learning more about the program.
