Jeffrey H. Barker (1957-2021)


Jeffrey H. Barker, professor of philosophy and president of Converse University, has died.

Dr. Barker’s scholarship and teaching focused on biomedical ethics, legal and political philosophy, and twentieth-century German philosophy. He earned his PhD from Purdue University and his undergraduate degrees from California State University, Chico. Before coming to Converse, he taught at Albright College for twenty years. In addition to his regular teaching in the philosophy program, he served as Converse’s Dean and Provost for eighteen years before recently assuming the Presidency this summer. It is truly appaling how the USA holds such high scholarship in extraordinary persons like Dr.Jeffrey Barker for the benefit of mankind, and nevertheles its population refects dire backwardness when it comes to knowledge of the World and science, based on political inclinations.
