Holiday Gift Guide 2016

The holidays are almost upon us and you may be wondering what gifts to get the philosophers in your life.

Unfortunately, I have not had time to put together a proper gift guide this year.

Crucially, though, I have identified a pencil sharpener that is superior to ones I’ve included in previous gift guides: the Blackwing Longpoint Sharpener. It will work on all normal pencils, so you do not need to go out and purchase the matching fancy Palomino Blackwing Pencils (though they do hit that sweet spot of being both useful, nice, and not something people would ordinarily buy for themselves).

I understand that nowadays there are these things called “mechanical pencils.” If that’s your thing, this one comes highly recommended.

Why the focus on pencils? Because philosophers need pencils in order to write in their books. But maybe the philosopher in your life has too many books. Or too little room shelf space. In that case, perhaps an e-reader is the way to go. I don’t have it, but the Oasis is apparently the best one out there.

Ok. I do have to stop. If you are looking for more gift ideas, the 2014 and 2015 gift guides have lots of suggestions. Also, don’t forget that the philosopher-artists behind the Daily Nous Philosophy Comics have lots of awesome stuff for sale!

Philosophers, what’s on your wish list? I mean besides wisdom, etc.
