Schwenkler from Illinois to UT Austin


John Schwenkler, currently professor of philosophy at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will be moving to the University of Texas at Austin.

Professor Schwenkler works in philosophy of action, ethics, moral psychology, philosophy of language, and philosophy of perception. He is the author of Anscombe’s Intention: A Guide as well as many other writings, which you can learn about here.

At UT Austin, Professor Schwenkler’s primary appointment will be as Professor of Philosophy in the School of Civic Leadership. He will also hold a (0%) joint appointment with the university’s Department of Philosophy.

During the next academic year he will be on research leave at the University of Notre Dame, and he will take up his new position in Texas in the fall of 2027.
