George Pappas (1942-2025)
George S. Pappas, professor emeritus of philosophy at The Ohio State University, has died.

Professor Pappas was known for his work in epistemology and on the philosophy of George Berkeley. He is the author of Berkeley’s Thought as well as many articles, and is the co-editor (with Marshall Swain) of the well-known anthology, Essays on Knowledge and Justification (aka “Pappas & Swain“). Pappas spent about four decades on the faculty at Ohio State. Before that, he taught at Western University (Ontario). He earned his PhD and MA in philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, and his BA from Gettysburg College.
He died on September 3rd, 2025.
