A Philosopher’s Testimony before the House Judiciary Committee
“If we do not want to slide towards illiberalism, no one should be above the law.”

Professor Luke Hunt testifying in Congress
That’s Luke Hunt, associate professor of philosophy at the University of Alabama, during his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight, on the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the rule of law.
Before becoming a philosophy professor, Dr. Hunt was an FBI agent.
In his testimony, Dr. Hunt says that the FBI “should be an agency that promotes the rule of law,” and raises “three concerns about the current state of affairs that could lead to an erosion of the rule of law.”
These concerns are: arbitrariness in what the FBI investigates, the selective enforcement of corruption, and the influence of politics in responding to national security threats.
You can read his testimony here, or watch it below. (His testimony, about five minutes long, begins at 1:11:55; the video below should start at that point.)
Thanks for sharing!
I actually interviewed Prof. Hunt about police deception and dishonesty.

Irony continues to be dead. The title of the hearing was “Inside the Biden FBI: Waste, Fraud, Abuse, and a Bureau Leadership in Decline.” The whole thrust of the hearing from the GOP standpoint was how the current good-guy administration might fix an FBI wrecked by the corrupt Biden administration; restoring amongst other things the rule of law. Professor Hunt was a clear voice on the expert panel for the genuine restoration of the rule of law, clearly implying that the present administration did not respect it. He was asked only two questions, first a sensible one by former law professor Jamie Raskin, and second at the end, when Hunt, along with the other panelists, was asked by the chair for his recommendation for reform. Hunt’s response to the chair: corruption is best avoided by restricting investigations to those with actual predication. Well done, Professor Hunt.
Thought that was really good; his content was great and he spoke really well. Congrats!
“Three concerns about the current state of affairs that could lead to an erosion of the rule of law.” Yes: (1) Donald (2) John (3) Trump. It’s a Trinity of Insanity and Inanity.
I love you bro. You will forever be remembered in my heart.
