Philosophers aren’t always aware that Kant actually did important work on the starry heavens above, as well as on the moral law within. His treatise on the solar system is the first one to propose the contemporary theory, that the solar system originated as a cloud of gas and dust that coalesced, under Newtonian gravity, to form the sun and the various planets and moons.
