List (LSE) & Valentini (KCL) to LMU Munich


Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU) has hired two philosophers: Christian List and Laura Valentini.

Christian List, currently Professor of Philosophy and Political Science at the London School of Economics, works on questions related to decision-making and agency. His most recent book is Why Free Will Is Real (Harvard University Press). You can learn more about his research here and here. He will be taking up a chair in Philosophy and Decision Theory at LMU and will also serve as Co-Director of the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) along with Hannes Leitgeb and Stephan Hartmann.

Laura Valentini, currently Professor of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at King’s College London, works on a variety of questions in normative political philosophy and the methodology of political philosophy. She is the author of Justice in Globalized World: A Normative Framework (Oxford University Press), among many other works. You can learn more about her research here and here. At LMU, she will take up a Chair in Philosophy and Political Theory.

They both will be moving to LMU in early 2021.
