James Woodward, emeritus professor at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Pittsburgh, is the winner of the Philosophy of Science Association’s 2024 Hempel Award.
The Hempel Award is bestowed by the Philosophy of Science Association (PSA) in recognition of “lifetime scholarly achievement in the philosophy of science”.
Professor Woodward is known for his work on causation, explanation in general philosophy of science, philosophy of psychology, and philosophy of social science. You can learn more about his work here.
