The British Postgraduate Philosophy Association (BPPA), the main Philosophy association for postgraduate students (graduate students) in the UK, has been around since 1997, but only just now has begun a membership program.
Current postgraduate students, as well as those transitioning to a postgraduate degree or that completed their PhD in the last 2 years, are eligible to join.
Why do so? Pablo Dopico (King’s College, London), the current president of the BPPA, writes:
Among other things, being a member of the BPPA means:

- having free entry, in person and online, to all our events across the year, including our Annual Conference and the Annual Masterclass.
- having access to previously recorded masterclasses, workshops and lectures.
- getting the BPPA to promote and support the conferences and events organised by our members.
- being eligible for our prizes, including our yearly £1,000 prize to the best paper of the Annual Conference.
- being able to stand and/or vote for the roles of the Executive Committee of the association.
- and, above all, it means that you will be part of the biggest community of postgraduate students in the UK.
Membership is £8 per year. The dues will be used by the BPPA to fund its regional and/or national conferences, student bursaries for travel expenses and registration fees, and the running of the organization. For more information about joining the BPPA, go here.
