Buckner from Houston to Florida


Cameron Buckner, currently associate professor of philosophy at the University of Houston, will be moving to the University of Florida, where he will take up the Donald Cronin Chair in the Humanities, an endowed full professorship.

Professor Buckner works mainly in philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and artificial intelligence. He is the author of From Deep Learning to Rational Machines: What the History of Philosophy Can Teach Us about the Future of Artificial Intelligence (OUP, 2023). He takes up his new position at the University of Florida in August 2024.
