I choose to take this as a swipe against history of philosophy — and a good swipe at that! Change the names with “Kant” or “Plato” or “Aristotle” and the joke still works for me.

AD, I think the joke goes the other way around, a swipe against narrow-minded analytic philosophers, perhaps with regard to history of philosophy but also “non-Western” philosophy more broadly. Change the names with “Nagarjuna” or “Confucius” or “Zera Yacob” and the joke is unfortunately taken from reality.
But what do Poogsnarg and Aristotle share in common? And where do they differ? If Meetzorp was from anywhere near Andromeda, perhaps we should simply dismiss her.

Why should we think that the alien and Earth folk mean the same thing by the word “philosophy”?

Poignant and hilarious. Does a great job of making fun of both sides of the “this is not philosophy” BS.

Well, history of philosophy isn’t philosophy, so there’s no BS there!
““The safest general characterization of the Zorgpligian philosophical tradition is that it consists of a series of footnotes to Poogsnarg”
