Appiah Honored as “Great Immigrant”

Kwame Anthony Appiah, professor of philosophy and law at New York University, is one of the Carnegie Corporation of New York’s 2017 “Great Immigrants.”

Each year, just before July 4th, the Carnegie Corporation releases a list of naturalized citizens from various countries with “a high level of professional leadership” to celebrate “the invaluable role that immigrants play in helping to advance our society, culture, and economy.”

Among the 38 honorees are 14 professors. Appiah, who was born in London and grew up in Ghana, is the only philosopher among them.

Further information is here and here.

See this interview with Appiah for some interesting details about Appiah’s life.
