Geography of Philosophy Project Wins Additional Funding

The Geography of Philosophy project, launched in 2017 with a $2.6 million grant from the John Templeton Foundation, has recieved an additional $546,777 from the foundation to “enable Project teams around the world to transition to online data collection and continue the Project’s cutting edge, in depth studies, despite the disruptions caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic.”

Led by philosophers Edouard Machery (Pittsburgh) and Stephen Stich (Rutgers) and anthropologist H. Clark Barrett (UCLA), the Geography of Philosophy project is a cross-cultural study of the concepts of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. The initial grant supported the project through May of 2021. The additional funding will allow it to continue until December of 2022. Further details here.
