Aren’t they still hiring?

We are in the middle of a search and expect to appoint 5 people (at lecturer/senior lecturer level), with at least two more posts the following year. A couple of these are replacements, but mostly the spate of hiring reflects enrolment growth in recent years and an investment by the university in the subject. We now have close to 800 students studying UG philosophy to degree level (similar to a major/double major), plus grad programs, etc.

Congratulations to Edinburgh for hiring philosophers from all over the world: eastern America, western America, northern America, and even southern America.

Do you mean hiring from, or philosophers from? 7 of the 8 were most recently in the US, but they are from 5 different countries. Overall on faculty we have philosophers from 15 or 16 countries.

My mistake! I’d assumed that they were all American.
