Society of Philosophers in America Wins Excellence & Innovation Prize


The Society of Philosophers in America (SOPHIA), an educational nonprofit organization comprised of academics and non-academics “dedicated to building communities of philosophical conversation” is the winner of the 2017 Prize for Excellence and Innovation in Philosophy Programs, awarded jointly by the American Philosophical Association (APA) and the Philosophy Documentation Center (PDC).

SOPHIA produces several programs and events, including the popular Philosophy Bakes Bread podcast, and publishes Civil American, a peer-reviewed journal of short essays by philosophers and others “on topics of importance for living and policy-making, as individuals and communities.”
