Amy Allen (Dartmouth) to Penn State


Amy Allen, currently Parents Distinguished Research Professor in the Humanities and Professor of Philosophy and Women’s and Gender Studies at Dartmouth College, will become head of the Department of Philosophy at Penn State, starting July, 2015. Professor Allen works in Continental philosophy, particularly critical social theory, poststructuralism, and feminist theory. See here for further details.

I wonder if the furor over Cohen’s new post will be brought up here. If not, why not?

“Why not?” Probably because none of the specific conditions identified by the anonymous commenter there apply in this case. But I certainly hope Prof Allen will evaluate the conditions of NTT employment in her new department (and for the program’s ABDs and recent PhDs).
